2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 carrot, grated

1 cup shiitake mushrooms, diced (or any preferred mushrooms)

3 tablespoons soy sauce (reduced sodium)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon Sriracha (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon brown sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of butter or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Crushed peanuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat.

Cook Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.

Vegetable Medley: Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and grated carrot. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Add Mushrooms: Mix in the diced shiitake mushrooms and cook for an additional 2 minutes until they soften.

Flavor It Up: In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, Sriracha, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Pour this sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare Lettuce Wraps: Rinse and dry the lettuce leaves carefully. Use large, sturdy leaves for wrapping.

Assemble: Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf. Top with fresh cilantro, chopped green onions, and crushed peanuts, if desired.

Serve: Enjoy the wraps while warm, using your hands for an authentic experience.
