Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas with the melted butter. Mix well until smooth. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar, stirring until fully incorporated.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully mixed in before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in dense brownies.

Add Extras: If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (but not wet batter).

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, cut into squares and serve.
