Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/4 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes to tenderize the meat.

Prepare the Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch for 1-2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender, then drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli back into the pan along with the cooked beef. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.

Finish: Drizzle with sesame oil for added flavor (optional) and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Plate the beef and broccoli over a bed of fluffy jasmine rice. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top as a garnish, if desired. Enjoy your delicious homemade Chinese Beef and Broccoli!
