Ingredients

1 lb chicken sausage, sliced (any preferred flavor)

1 cup orzo pasta

4 cups chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup spinach, chopped

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Chicken Sausage: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and continue sautéing for another minute until fragrant.

Cook the Orzo: Stir in the orzo pasta, allowing it to toast slightly for about 1-2 minutes. Then, pour in the chicken broth and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover the skillet and let it cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.

Make it Creamy: Once the orzo is cooked, stir in the heavy cream, cooked chicken sausage, chopped spinach, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the spinach has wilted and everything is heated through.

Finish with Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.

Serve: Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your creamy chicken sausage orzo skillet!
