Ingredients

12 Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk (or coconut milk for extra tropical flavor)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (optional)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Coconut flakes (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prep the Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and salt until well combined.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the egg mixture, making sure to soak both sides thoroughly. Let excess mixture drip off and set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or griddle, melt the butter over medium heat. Ensure the butter is bubbling but not browning.

Cook the Rolls: Place the soaked Hawaiian rolls in the skillet, cut side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Serve with Flair: Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a plate. Top with fresh pineapple chunks, a drizzle of maple syrup, and if desired, a dusting of powdered sugar and a sprinkle of coconut flakes.

Enjoy! Serve warm, and savor the tropical flavors of this delightful breakfast!
